Mizzou Wheelchair Basketball Camp focuses on individual fundamental skill development and strategies in team play. Players participate in skill developing drills, controlled scrimmages and games that emphasize the skills and concepts taught by the staff.
The camp is led by Ron Lykins, the University of Missouri head coach and former United States Men’s National Team coach. Staff members include coaches and players who are experienced at the intercollegiate and international level. The camp takes place in historic Brewer Fieldhouse within the MU Student Rec Complex at the University of Missouri.
Dates: July 7-11, 2024
Camp schedule:
- July 7 | 3-5 p.m. – Check-in
- July 7 | 7 p.m. – Instructional session
- July 8 -10 | Camp
- July 11 | 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Check-out
Fees: $400. Fees include housing, camp apparel, instruction, insurance and administrative costs. Registration deadline is July 1, 2024. $25 discount if registered by June 20, 2024.
Refunds: All monies, less the $75 non-refundable administrative fee, will be refunded for medical reasons only. A letter of explanation must be included with the refund request and be received prior to the camp start date.
Who: Youth, ages 12-19, with a permanent disability of the lower extremity. All campers must be independent in performing all activities of daily living. No attendant care is provided. We strongly recommend you bring your own basketball chair. Due to a limited number of basketball chairs for loan, please contact us as soon as possible if you need a chair.
Travel: All campers are responsible for their transportation to and from Columbia. Local transportation is provided by the camp staff. No early arrivals or late departures. Campers are responsible for their own accommodations before and after camp dates.
Medical care: Camp is held at MizzouRec located conveniently near University Hospital.
