Small Group Programs

If you want the attentiveness of a personal trainer coupled with the accountability of a group, Small Group Programs could be for you! Each small group varies in length and type offered based on the program’s goals. Grab a friend (or a few) and sign up together, or select something of interest to you and meet someone new! Small Group Programs can be purchased in zouLIFE or online. Registration typically opens one week prior to program start date and closes 24 hours after the first program session.

 

SPRING 2024 SMALL GROUP OFFERINGS

Powerlifting 

Join one of our Certified Personal Trainers for a five week intensive course on proper form and progression of powerlifting movements including squat, bench press, and deadlift. Whether it’s your first time performing each lift or prepping for a competition, this small group training will help fine tune your lifting techniques for maximal strength results. All levels welcome, no experience required.

Dates: Feb 6-Mar 7

Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7-7:45am

Location: Outdoor Fitness Space/Pump Room

Fee: $69 members/$109 non-members

 

Faculty/Staff Small Group Training

This five week program is available for faculty/staff members only. Designed to enhance overall strength, mobility, and stability, leave feeling confident in yourself and your ability to move. We aim to improve all components of the 7 foundational movement patterns that directly impact one’s quality of life. All levels welcome!

Dates/Times: Feb 6-Mar 7

Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7-7:45am

Location: Stalcup’s Garage

Fee: $69 members/$109 non-members

 

Mobility

Often confused with flexibility, mobility is the ability of a joint to move actively through a range of motion with ease. This program will allow you to regain motion in the major areas of the body that tend to feel “tight” including overhead shoulder mobility, thoracic spine rotation, hip rotation, hip flexors, and the foot and ankle. All levels welcome!

Dates/Times: Feb 26-Mar 11

Times: Mondays, 4:30-5:30pm

Location: Outdoor Fitness Space or Stalcup’s Garage

Fee: $29 members/$44 non-members

 

Women on Weights

Want to gain more confidence in the gym AND connect with other females passionate about health and wellness? This program is designed for beginners who identify as a female and are looking for a safe, non-judgmental space to learn the basics of weightlifting and gym equipment usage. Leave feeling more knowledgeable and empowered in any gym you walk into next!

Dates/Times: Feb 28-Mar 13

Times: Wednesdays, 3-4pm

Location: Stalcup’s Garage

Fee: $29 members/$44 non-members

 

Hypertrophy

This program is for all levels looking to build size and mass to their current musculature, no matter where you’re starting from! Our certified personal trainer will teach you the importance and application of variables like time under tension, high volume rep schemes, and eccentric lifts in order to increase muscle size and strength.

Dates/Times: Apr 2 – May 2

Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-7pm

Fee: $69 members/$109 non-members

 

MIZZOUREC SMALL GROUP PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Small Group Program members must adhere to all MizzouRec general facility guidelines. Failure to comply with any MizzouRec policies could result in a range of disciplinary actions. Cases will be reviewed on an individual basis, however, singular offenses can be subject but not limited to verbal warnings and/or immediate removal or denial of entry to Small Group Program. Repeated offenses can be subject but not limited to written warnings, probationary periods, reimbursement for damages, and temporary or permanent suspension from all MizzouRec facilities/programs without refund. Additionally, depending upon severity of the situation, any violation of these rules could result in disciplinary action taken by the university, including the Office of Student Accountability and Care and MUPD.

SESSION DURATION

All Small Group Program sessions are 45-60 minutes in length and include one complimentary pre-assessment per session

PURCHASING AND REFUND POLICY

Members must show proof of small group program enrollment prior to their first session with a Personal Trainer. All purchases are non-refundable, non-transferrable.

LATE POLICY:

Members must arrive on time for their scheduled small group program session(s). Failure to arrive within 5 minutes of session start time may result in a forfeit of their program registration. Members are encouraged to stay for the entire session. Personal Trainers reserve the right to deny entry to members who arrive 10 minutes after the start of a session due to safety precautions.

GROUP TRAINING POLICY

In the event that one member needs to cancel within 24 hours of a scheduled small group or simply does not show, the session may continue with the remaining members. However, due to the discounted rate for group training, the session will still count toward the small group session for that member. Personal Trainers reserve the right to reschedule a small group session.

SAFETY AND ELIGIBILITY:

Members must show they are eligible to participate in physical activity or provide proof of a medical provider’s release to engage in physical activity before meeting with their Personal Trainer. MizzouRec is not liable for any health-related conditions or injuries that occur during training sessions. Clients are required to notify their trainer of any prescription changes or medical conditions including surgery should they occur during your time working with a Personal Trainer for medical release purposes.

PERSONAL ITEM POLICY:

Members must refrain from bringing their personal items (backpacks, purses, bags, etc.) into the small group training space. MizzouRec is not liable for any lost or stolen items. Personal items may be stored outside the PT Suite in the zouLIFE lockers at the client’s own risk. As a courtesy to other members and your personal trainer, cell phones are not allowed in the boot camp training space during a session.
