Outdoor Fitness Space

The Jungle Gym »

The Outdoor Fitness Space expands members’ workout possibilities and incorporates sunshine and fresh air.

This open-air facility near the southeast entrance is home to fitness programs like bootcamps, personal training and classes. Equipped with traditional fitness equipment like squat racks and free weights and functional fitness equipment like tires and weighted sleds, the space gives members more options to customize their workout. It’s cooled with fans and shade sails during warmer months and equipped with heaters for cooler months, making it usable most days of the year.

Inclement Weather Policy

Inclement weather is defined as freezing rain, ice, snow, lightning, hail and/or severe conditions (tornado and thunderstorms watches/warnings) that compromise the safety of the participants, staff and the facility.

In the event of inclement weather, MizzouRec will temporarily pause all outdoor recreation until there are no further signs of inclement weather for 30 minutes and/or until the space is free of snow. At that time, we will resume activities as deemed appropriate by Campus Facilities.

Weather Temperature: Cancellations/postponements related to temperature.

MizzouRec holds the right to cancel events and/or programs due to extreme weather conditions.

Temperature Limit Guidelines

  • 35 degrees or lower
  • Outdoor temperature with a heat index of 90 degrees or higher

Protocol

  • Depending on the weather conditions, MizzouRec and/or Campus Facilities will monitor the weather conditions.
  • Campus Facilities and/or the Assistant Director for Facility Maintenance/Capital Projects will issue a message of the anticipated delays/cancellations to the team. This will activate our internal response to the pending inclement weather.
