Mizzou’s Women’s Rugby Club presents the opportunity for Mizzou Students to learn more about the sport of rugby while traveling and playing other competitive collegiate teams. This year due to the hit from COVID, we have been joining other schools to make motley teams, giving us the opportunity to connect with lady ruggers around the mid-America region. Our Fall season starts the first week of September (no experience is needed) we then have the end of November until February off, and the spring season ends at the beginning of May. We accept new players year-round and encourage you to at least come give it a try!
The name of the club is the University of Missouri Women’s Rugby Club. We strive to promote fun, friendship, and fellowship in the values of the game of rugby. We accept anyone willing to put forth the effort to be a team member. The club shall be a member of the Mid-America Rugby Football Union (MARFU), the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR), and as a part of the Heartland of America conference, the club must accept the rules and procedures of these governing bodies. The object of the club shall be to administer and foster the development of rugby among all members of the club. The club shall promote the fellowship, good spirit, and hard work, traditions of the sport of rugby.
Semester dues are $30 per person, which includes payment of the referees, travel costs, lodging costs, and team equipment. USA rugby requires each member to be registered with NCR which is a fee of $80 annually.
Our club does not hold tryouts, come join us!
Practices are every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Practices will be held at Epple Field (2001 Providence Rd.). It’s about a three-minute drive from campus and there is a bus that picks up at various stops around campus and will drop off next to Epple in the Reactor parking lot.
Please arrive at least five minutes before our scheduled practice time so we can put on cleats and get any equipment ready we may need for that day. Make sure to bring water, cleats* (without front toe cleat, ex. soccer cleats), and an EXCITEMENT to learn.
*if you do not have cleats already, do not worry about it. Come give rugby a try and if you decide to play in a game we can work on getting all the needed equipment by then!
