Applicants must submit an online application during the hiring session to be considered as well as any other documentation listed in the job description. Selection is contingent upon successful background checks. Most student staff must have or obtain current CPR/AED/First-Aid certification within three months of start date. These classes are provided by MizzouRec free of charge to staff. Certain positions may require additional certifications.

Lifeguard Currently Hiring View Description

Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of facility users by preventing and responding to emergencies. This individual must remain American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certified during course of position.

Tiger Swim Lesson Instructor Currently Hiring View Description

TigerSwim Lesson Instructors plan and teach the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program for swim lesson participants ages 6 months- adult. Instructors provide leadership and guidance of skills during class through attentiveness to each participant’s swimming and learning needs.

Aquatic Event Frontline View Description

Aquatic Event Frontline assist with competitive events hosted in the Mizzou Aquatic Center, Family Night in Tiger Grotto, Aquatic Programming, and any other special events that may take place within the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

Facility Frontline View Description

Duties include enforcing all MizzouRec and University policies, providing facility access, maintaining cleanliness of facility and equipment, and providing high quality customer service to all members and guests.

Personal Trainer View Description

A MizzouRec personal trainer is responsible for designing individualized exercise programs for clients, as well as leading them through this program safely and effectively.  Additionally, they will be required to participate in leading boot camps. Qualifications: national certification and successful completion of the MizzouRec ACE Personal Trainer Exam Preparation Course.

TigerX Group Fitness Instructor View Description

This job encompasses all instructor formats, including but not limited to Cycling, Yoga, Pilates, Boxing, Cardio, Strength, Dance or Dance Fitness Instructors. Applicants are expected to participate in the Tiger Fitness Instructor Training Course the semester prior to applying. Exceptions to course participation are granted to those who already hold a current, active Nationally Recognized Certification of their format of choice.

Public Engagement

Member & Guest Services Frontline View Description

Staff are responsible for providing customer service to members and guests. This includes answering questions regarding membership, policies, programming and services. Staff also assist with locker rental and locker room access, provide tours and handle administrative duties.

Outreach Support View Description

Staff are responsible for serving as ambassadors across campus, assisting with tabling and marketing opportunities to promote MizzouRec services and programs.

Sports & Competition Frontline View Description

Sports and Competition Frontline oversee the programming of Club Sports, Intramural Sports and within the Mizzou Gaming Lounge. Staff are responsible for working with participants to ensure a high-quality level of service and enforce policies of MizzouRec and the Mizzou Gaming Lounge.

Intramural Sports Official View Description

Intramural Sports Officials manage and officiate Intramural Sport leagues (Flag Football, Basketball, Indoor Volleyball, Outdoor Soccer). Staff are responsible for working with Intramural Sports teams to properly enforce rules and policies of each sport. 

Venture Out and Climbing Wall

Venture Out Facilitator/Climbing Wall Technician View Description

Venture Out facilitators are trained in technical high ropes and climbing skills, as well as group facilitation. Climbing Wall Technicians aid visitors to the Climbing Wall at MizzouRec by belaying, teaching how to belay and tie in, setting bouldering routes, and encouraging climbers to reach their summit. Hires will work in both spaces. No previous climbing or experiential education experience is necessary to apply.
